General preparation · 3 minutes
Use easy locomotion and individually comfortable mobility. Identify any movement that does not feel normal and adjust the session with the coach before increasing intensity.
Technical rhythm · 3 minutes
Flow through familiar stance, entry, defense, and recovery actions. Keep the partner cooperative and the contact controlled while the pace gradually increases.
Decision rehearsal · 3 minutes
Choose two familiar partner reactions. For example, an exposed leg invites an entry while a square defensive stance calls for another setup. Make a clear decision, then reset rather than forcing a finish.
Competition-specific rehearsal · 3 minutes
Rehearse the opening tie, first attack, or bottom escape planned for the session. Use brief purposeful efforts with enough recovery to preserve quality. Finish with the cue you want to carry into live wrestling.
Put it into practice
Your next session
Choose the warmup based on the practice objective. A top-position session needs riding and base-building preparation; a neutral session needs stance, ties, and entries. Do not add unfamiliar lifts or acrobatics just to make the sequence look advanced.
What to look for
Ask the athlete to name the first decision they will make in live wrestling and demonstrate it once at useful speed with a cooperative partner.
