Choose a small commitment
Select an action you can complete consistently, such as arriving ready for warmup or writing one technique cue after practice. Start with one habit instead of a long list.
Attach it to a cue
Tie the habit to something that already happens. After tying my shoes, I review today’s focus. After the final huddle, I write one thing I learned.
Remove avoidable friction
Prepare gear ahead of time and keep the learning note somewhere easy to find. Ask a teammate or coach to check the behavior without turning a missed day into a public punishment.
Adjust the routine
Review the habit after a week. If it is repeatedly missed, make it smaller or change the cue. Consistency should support learning and recovery rather than encourage training through a problem.
Put it into practice
Your next session
Create a five-practice checklist with one box per day for your chosen habit. Record completion honestly and include a short note about what helped or got in the way.
What to look for
A useful routine is one you can explain and repeat. Measure the behavior itself rather than comparing your workload with teammates.
