Define a controllable action
Choose one behavior for the next practice, such as keeping stance through the first exchange or completing hand control before a stand-up. Make it observable so you can recognize when it happened.
Collect evidence
After drilling, write down one clean repetition and what made it work. Use concrete details such as foot position or timing instead of a general judgment that you were good or bad.
Rehearse the first exchange
Picture a familiar starting position and the first useful action. Keep the rehearsal short and specific: establish a wrist tie, move the partner, then react to the opening.
Review the behavior
After live wrestling, ask whether you attempted the planned action. A failed finish can still provide useful evidence about the setup, distance, or timing that needs work.
Put it into practice
Your next session
Before practice, finish the sentence: Today I will trust my preparation by ____. After practice, record one example of doing it and one adjustment for tomorrow.
What to look for
Look for a clearer first action and less time spent judging yourself between exchanges. Confidence can fluctuate; the action plan stays available.
